Shopping and More Shopping: Feisty Fashion Girl

feistyfashiongirl150.jpg

OK, people.....I could say I've been around the world and "ay, yai, yai", which is not totally true but I DO feel as though I sort of did a major march through MANY of the Twin Cities boutiques last weekend and I feel ready to report.

Now, I need to preface this by reminding you that was in retail for almost 25 years and owned my own store for 12 of those, so I am a critic, albeit, an educated one. I know what it takes to do well in the industry and that is what I am basing a lot of my observations on for this piece. Having said that: I give you my take on a couple of the new kids on the block:

Day Trip: Downtown Minneapolis

MplsStreet.jpg

By Stephany Wiestling

Downtown? With kids? Absolutely! Spending the day in the city can be a cultural ego boost for anyone, even kids. If you can, plan your trip around a live stage show or a ball game. Going to a theater or stadium can be a lifelong memory in itself. Seeing a few other sights just adds more value to it. Here are some of our favorites.

-Library. The new Hennepin County Library has an interactive children's area on the ground floor and a very cool area just for teens upstairs.

-Water Park. Yes, there is a water park downto ... Continue reading Day Trip: Downtown Minneapolis.

budgetclothes.jpg

by Megan Torrini

Nearly all of us are concerned about the economy these days, and not to mention the hit it is taking on our pocketbooks. So, forget the embarrassment, look hip, and best of all, save money doing it.

Out and About with Food Sensitivities: Still Me - Allergy Free

By Melisa Priem

Ironically, food sensitivities are affecting a growing number of Americans during a time when people are eating out more and cooking less. Fortunately, many restaurants are responding to the increase in food sensitivities as gluten-free menus are slowly becoming as acceptable as kids' menus. National chains such as Outback Steakhouse, Wildfire, Biaggi's, and P.F. Chang all have gluten-free menus, as do local chains such as Big Bowl, Chianti Grill, and Axel's Bonfire. Even smaller, locally-owned restaurants such as The Hubbell house in Mantorville, MN are reacting to the drastic increase in gluten- ...
