Minneapolis-St. Paul...An Impressive List

With such a remarkable list of things to do and places to be, it's no wonder the Minneapolis-St. Paul metro area ranks high in most every category. Minneapolis - St.Paul is a great place to visit and an even better place to live. Sure we're biased-we love our hometown.


Education
The Minneapolis-St. Paul area receives high marks for education and we are proud of it. According to the Chamber of Commerce's State-by-State Report Card, Minnesota ranks 2nd nationwide in academic effectiveness. America's Most Literate Cities has ranked Minneapolis-St. Paul number 1 and 3, respectively, as most literate cities in the country. Minnesota ranks high among the top states for quality K-12 education by Education Week. Seventy percent of Minnesota high school students take the ACT exam with an average score of 22.5, surpassing the national average score of 21.2. The University of Minnesota is one of the top research universities in the nation, and the University of Minnesota Medical Center is one of the top 50 teaching hospitals in the United States. According to American Business Journals, Inc., the Minneapolis-St. Paul area is recognized as one of "America's Smartest Cities" and tops the charts in literacy according to Central Connecticut State University.


Family
According to Child Magazine, Minneapolis-St. Paul is one of the best places to raise a child in the nation- Child Magazine ranked Minneapolis 3rd for the best city for families. USA Today named Minneapolis the 5th best City for Children and is ranked 2nd by FitPregnancy as the best city to have a baby. Additionally, Kiplinger's Personal Finance has named Minneapolis-St. Paul as one of the top 5 cities to be married with kids. Minneapolis-St. Paul also ranks high for excellent air quality, biking and walking paths and a variety of family educational programs. There are more than 100 libraries located within 15 miles of Minneapolis-St. Paul and for budding explorers and scientists, each city is home to two museums.


Health and Fitness
According to the United Health Foundation, Minnesota is the 2nd healthiest state in the United States and in a study conducted by the American Heart Association, Minnesota is the number 1 state for healthy hearts. The state received high marks for a low rate of uninsured, a low rate of death from cardiovascular disease and a low premature death rate.


In 2006, Men's Fitness named Minneapolis as the "Most Athletic City". PBS has named Minneapolis as one of the most walkable cities in the nation and Runner's World named Minneapolis the 2nd best city in the country for running. More great news- CQ Press has named Minnesota the nation's most healthy state in 2008.


In a study by Earth Day Network, the Minneapolis-St. Paul ranked among the top 10 greenest cities in America, and in 2006 The Green Guide gave Minneapolis- St. Paul props for continuing to reduce CO2 emissions. Together, Minneapolis-St.Paul are listed among the Top 10 Greenest Cities in America by Homestore.com, are listed second in the nation for recycling by BioCycle and are ranked among the top five "Least Stressful Cities" by Sperling's Best Places.

According to Forbes Magazine, Minneapolis-St. Paul ranks number 8 as the "Best City for Young Professionals" and ranked number 2 as "The Best Home Buyer's Market". Minneapolis-St. Paul was named "One of the Best Metro Centers for Business" by Market Watch and American City Business Journals named Minneapolis-St. Paul 4th in the nation for small business.
