The Great Minnesota Get Together: The Fun is Finally Here!
For the little ones, both Mondays during the fair kids ages 5-12 only pay $5.00 for admission. As always, kids under 5 get in free. Discounts are taken all over the fair, including all of the Mighty Midway and Kidway rides, games and concessions. Thrifty Thursday's are also a bargain for the entire family, not only do the kids receive discounted admission but so do adults. The Kidway and the Mighty Midway have always been a huge hit with the little tykes at the fair. This year, the Fair has some new editions to both areas! The Mighty Midway is welcoming a new exciting ride called Alpine Bob, and the Kidway is adding the Wiggle Worm to its' arsenal of fun. The Grand Stand is always one of the largest attractions at the fair, welcoming various talents to entertain you and your family. There are many performers gracing the stage this year, here are just a few; for the country western fans, Brad Paisly, Kellie Pickler, Jack Ingram and Taylor Swift will be performing the first night of the fair, Thursday, Aug 23rd at 7:30 p.m. For you Alternative rock fans, The Goo Goo Dolls and Lifehouse will be putting on a show on Friday night at 7:30 pm. On Saturday, Fergie with special guest Rooney will be lighting up the stage at 7:30. For a complete listing of performers and ticket prices and times, visit the website. By far the most popular attraction at the Fair is the Miracle of Birth Center. Come and witness animals giving birth, and teach your kids about the miracle of life! Kids and adults can learn about the birthing process and witness the baby animals grow. There are petting and feeding areas too. The Fair has over nine different categories of animals on display this year. Horses, cows, goats, sheep, llamas, pigs and more will be on display for judging. Visit the Fair's website to download the "Where and When to see the Animals" which is a complete listing of the events, types of animals you can see and a map to navigate your way through the barn area. Little Farm Hands is one of our favorite activities at the Fair. This free attraction, allows kids ages 3-12 to become farm hands for the day...or 5 minutes, depending on attention span. Kids get to learn and experience first hand the agricultural process that brings food to their dinner table. Starting at the farm all the way to the market, teach your kids about animals, work, responsibility and the value of money all while having fun! There is even a market that the kids can shop at and spend the "cash" they earned while on the farm! For much, much more fun and excitement, visit the fair's website. Find a complete schedule of events, a Food Finder, maps and more. We hope to see you there! And if you're looking for even more fun family activities, check out Things to Do on MomTalk!
