Sometimes we all could use a crown...or the next best thing- a hat fit for a princess. Try this one with your 3-6 year olds.

You Will Need:

  • 1- 12x18 piece of tag board/ cardboard
  • Glitter glue, paints, sequins, jewels, etc.
  • Stapler
  • Scissor
  • 2' X 4' long piece of sheer fabric or lace

Cut a semi - circle from the tag board - start at the 18 inch side.

Wrap the ends around to form a cone shape, overlap and staple to secure.

Decorate with glitter glue, jewels, etc.

Once the decorated cone has dried, take the fabric and tie one of the short ends into a knot. Pull the fabric through the top of the cone to create a flowing train
(you want to insert this through the open end of the cone and then pull out through the top.).

Secure the hat onto your head using bobby pins, (or you can attach string to the sides and tie it on)

There you have it-- a hat fit for a princess !!!!

    HINT
Another decorating method is to glue fabric over the cone first before decorating - this adds texture and can be made to coordinate with your favorite princess gown
