Edible Finger Paints: Kids Krafts

By Tracey C. Agranoff
Ages: 9 months-36 months
You Will Need:
Pkg. Vanilla Pudding Mix
Food Coloring or Unsweetened Kool-Aid Packet
Milk
Step 1. Pour some of the dry vanilla pudding mix onto a tabletop surface.
Step 2. Put 2 -3 drops of food coloring or pour some of the Kool-Aid powder onto the dry pudding.
Step 3. Slowly add milk to the dry mixture letting your child use their hands to mix the ingredients creating safe edible finger paint.
Add more milk if your artist prefers a thinner paint. You can enjoy the mixing and mushy gushy feeling or to create a Mono-Print have your child use their finger(s) to draw designs into the mixture. When they have one they like, lay a sheet of construction paper on top of the design. Rub gently with your hands and lift to reveal a print of the design - awesome fun!
Hint
I love crafting but hate clean-up - I recommend for easy clean-up that you drop by your local $ Store, pick up some plastic table clothes and create, create, create.
If you like you can let your child lick their fingers and kind of munch as they play, please be sure to explain why this is OK (we are using safe food items) and that we don't eat paint, etc. - seems like a no-brainer, but I have friends who tell tales of their little ones trying to lick paint off of brushes, etc.
